New Delhi 2nd June, 2017 meeting in Serbian Embassy with the Deputy Chief of Mission

Minutes of the meeting held on 2nd June 2017 in the premises of Serbian Embassy, with the Deputy Chief of Mission, New Delhi, India

 At the beginning, Mr Jag Saini and Mr Nitin Pangotra, introduced the formation of Balkan Indian Business Association, (BIBA), its mission and ongoing activities to Mr Dusan Vukic. Healthy and comprehensive discussions were held regarding BIBA India Chapter’s proposed Initiatives and deliberations on the following mega promotional views -

1.    Promotion of India-Balkan Economic ties with special mention to Serbia

2.    Promotion of India-Balkan Cultural ties with special mention to Serbia


1.    Promotion of Indo-Serbia Economic Ties -  


a)    It was apprised of that Balkan-Indian Business Association (BIBA) is taking a business delegation, comprising of mainly IT sector, to Sofia, Bulgaria for B2B and B2G meetings, starting 25th- 27th September, 2017. The proposed delegation in the field of Information Technology is to be headed by Mr DK Sareen, Executive Director, Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council, under the aegis of Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Government of India along with construction, hospitality and film industry businessmen, who have already given their consents for the participation, final itinerary with profile of the participants companies will be circulated on 15th of June, 2017.  BIBA – with the mandate to promote entire Balkan region, envisages and wishes to arrange B2B meetings for the visiting delegation with Serbian Corporate Sectors, also during the proposed visit. It was also requested for arranging an interaction meeting between Serbian Chamber of Commerce through members and BIBA, India/Bulgaria Chapters for future coordination and cooperation.


b)    It was also discussed that during this visit, BIBA India Chapter intends to organize an international conference at Sofia University, to promote the idea of deep Indo-Balkan relations. The spirit is to initiate a discourse and to build a new narrative regarding the imperatives of Indo-Balkan deep economic convergence in the contemporary global times. BIBA India Chapter has already circulated the concept Paper, of the conference to various stake holders and is expecting law makers, policy makers, academicians and leading entrepreneurs from Balkan region to deliver their views on the subject. BIBA is also expecting a high level delegation from India to usher a new era of economic engagements. Invitation for the participation and paper presentation has already formally been extended to Serbian Embassy. It was solicited that academician, diplomats as well as concerned policy makers and Ministers from Serbia may kindly grace the occasion. Moreover, BIBA Indian Chapter proposed that it is open to consider any possibility for organizing this proposed Conference in Serbia and further requested to take leadership in Balkan region. A request for looking into the possibilities for the necessary arrangements was made thereof.


c)    BIBA, India Chapter, will be extending its full support to all business delegation, visiting India from Serbia from time to time and would warmly welcome, host and support them through offering its services and platform for   coordinating and facilitating industries of both economies. BIBA India Chapter also solicited information on the list of international trade fairs organized in Serbia so that participation of Indian business delegation is arranged accordingly. An extensive discussion was held on promotion of trade between both regions through participation in trade fairs. BIBA, India Chapter also discussed to provide complimentary air tickets and logistic facilities, as a special case, to the leading IT companies, visiting from Serbia for participation in IndiaSoft 2018, scheduled for 24th to 25th January, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.


2.    Promotion of Indo-Serbian Cultural Ties -


a)     BIBA India Chapter also advanced its idea of promoting and celebrating Serbian vibrant culture and festivity by taking it to the Indian masses through showcasing at massive platforms. BIBA India Chapter, offered to arrange Serbia’s participation as partner country in the events, which are of international stature with mass participation, including

Holi Moo! Festival.

Delhi Cook- Out-World Bar-be-cue Festival etc.

 The spirit of such an aggressive exercise is to exhibit Serbian music, art, food, tourism, culture and allied festivals. These activities would strongly                                               demonstrate soft power of Balkan region and help to reach and connect with/to the Indian masses – P2P (people to people). BIBA India Chapter will marshal its resources and act as an instrumentality in bringing Serbia and Balkan region, closer to the people of India.  A full detailed proposal of the above mentioned Festivals/Events will be e-mailed to MR Dusan at the earliest.

b)    To promote Indian culture in Balkan region, BIBA India Chapter, proposed the idea of taking the rich Indian festivity, culture and heritage in Balkan. BIBA India Chapter is in process of selecting the venue in Balkan region (on the invite of States) to organize and recreate grand Holi experience on the lines of Holi Moo! The Festival New Delhi, which attracts and mesmerizes numerous international tourists around the world, with its unique Indian cultural ethos with international appeal and format. BIBA India Chapter extended its offer to Serbia to be a partner state with BIBA, India Chapter in organizing this event in Belgrade. Such an event could be a ‘game changer’ in terms of promoting Indian culture and attracting unprecedentedly local cultural attention and direct interaction in Balkan. Moreover, it shall be of substantial help in exhibiting close cultural ties between India and Serbia. This proposed festival would also be of great importance to Serbian economy as it act as a spectacular ‘pull factor’ for the tourist around the world to congregate at Serbia every year to Celebrate and indulge in the festival of colors, bliss and ecstasy. A detail proposal will be separately e-mailed to the Republic of Serbian Embassy.    




 It was finally decided to provide with the detailed profile and itinerary of the program for circulation latest by 20th of June, 2017.  It was also mutually decided that BIBA would be considering for a) extending the delegation to Serbia to have B2B meeting or receiving Serbian delegation at Sofia, b) for organizing the proposed conference at Serbia, c) for organizing and celebrating Indian festivals and cultural ethos in Serbia and d) arrangements for the participation of Serbia in International festivals to be organized in India. It was also decided that BIBA India Chapter would be regularly meeting and coordinating with Serbian Embassy for the purposes of finalizing the modalities of the proposed events/programs and to share more ideas for implementing.


This was desired to organize an exclusive meeting with His Excellency, the Ambassador of Serbia, in India as soon as he arrives in.


The meeting ended up in positive environment and vote of thanks to each other.
